Not all editing/critiquing is the same. It's important to understand the different types of editing/critiquing so your manuscript gets what it needs.
Beta Critique - A BC is a 'general impressions' read of a manuscript from the perspective of a reader, not an editor. It focuses on constructive criticism and ways to improve your manuscript as a whole.
In-Depth Critique - An IDC is a thorough look at your manuscript from the perspective of a writer. It is aimed at critically examining a manuscript and evaluating the overall quality by helping to find the strengths and weaknesses, holes, etc and providing constructive feedback for improvement.
Developmental Edits - DE focus on the big picture and overall aspects of a manuscript. Such edits include clarity, consistency, flow, and tense as well as structure, plot, characters, dialogue, POV, tone, pacing, and setting. Could require extensive rewrites.
Line Edits - LE focus on both details and the big picture in a line-by-line review of a manuscript. Such edits include creative content, language, word choice, and writing style.
Copy Edits - CE focus on grammar, spelling, punctuation, typographical errors, and formatting within a manuscript.
Proofreading Edits - PE is the final step to check for mistakes within a manuscript. It should be the LAST editing step in the process.
It is important to understand that developmental edits, critiques, and line edits are meant to help you tell a better story. Proofreading and copy edits are meant to address the flaws of a manuscript on a technical and mechanical level.
*I strongly suggest that your manuscript goes through each stage of editing before attempting publication. Please understand that no book is perfect and these edits do not guarantee representation, publication, or book sales.

What qualifications do you have? I have both a bachelor's degree and master's degree in English/Language Arts/Secondary Education and have several years teaching experience from the high school level to the graduate school level. I also hold a Ph.D. from a Tier 1 research university and a certification in qualitative research. Mentoring and working with other writers is one of my passions! I was contracted with a publishing company before I decided to pursue indie publishing. I currently have three novels published and will release my fourth novel in summer 2019.
What is your turnaround time? Depending on the length of the manuscript, I try to complete all edits/critiques within 2-3 weeks. Beta Reads are completed within 1 week.
What is your critique style? I believe critiquing should feel like a constructive conversation, not a formal 'academic' experience. While I believe in being honest during the process, it is important that the feedback be direct, helpful, and focused on what your manuscript needs.
What formats do you accept? Please email your manuscript in a .doc or .docx file. Be sure your manuscript is in Times New Roman, 12 point font, and double spaced. All comments, changes, and edits will be done through 'Word' Track Changes.

"In 2014, I suffered a devastating blow in publishing and was ready to pack it up and go home, but Christina offered to critique my debut novel. Her encouragement reawakened my enthusiasm for my story. And she was right! That book is an Amazon #1 Bestseller and is now the flagship in my multi-series story universe. Christina has been one of my trusted critique partners for every novel. My writing life would not be the same without her."
Keely Brook Keith, Author of The Uncharted Series
"Christina is a rare jewel when it comes to critiquing. She was kind and encouraging while pushing me to make the manuscript better than I thought I could. She treated my manuscript as if it were her baby as well as mine. I felt she wanted the same thing out of the process as I did: the best book I was capable of producing. Christina's feedback was always helpful. As a writer herself, she knows how important it is to hear what's working or gain insight into a reader's genuine reactions in addition to what's not work or might turn a reader off. Christina brings both her love of reading and understanding of the writing craft and the artist's soul to every critique she gives. I would recommend her services to anyone who wants honest feedback from someone who can speak from both sides of the exchange between the writer and the reader."
Erica Hearns, Author of Altered Before the Altar and Creator of By Her Shelf
"I love working with Christina. She is always professional and courteous, and she knows what to look for in a manuscript. We've worked together on several occasions. Whether I ask her to critique for line edits to catch grammatical issues or to do a big picture critique, her comments are always spot on."
